There are clues in the symptoms that this is flu--4-day high fever, myalgia, malaise, lack of appetite; also his family is sick.

But, another good clue is that the organism replicates within the cell's nucleus. (For my Sketchy micro folks! Influenza is an orthomyxovirus, enveloped, negative-sense RNA virus. This is the picture of the dentists office and in the fish tank there are octopus babies inside the helmet--i.e. replication in the nucleus.)

Other answers:

Poliovirus--> symptoms more likely to include decreased muscle strength/paralysis or (aseptic) meningitis like symptoms

Rabies virus--> would likely include history of exposure to bats, raccoons, skunks; key symptoms: agitation, photophobia, hydrophobia, hypersalivation

Reovirus--> rotavirus is a common reovirus; therefore, there would be a history of secretory diarrhea

RSV--> this is usually a disease of children <2 y/o

Vaccinia virus--> this is a poxvirus and would cause a rash
